I can’t believe it is the end of the regular season! I usually recap the last week, but I’m going to be a little brief today since it is Thanksgiving morning as I write. I am going into a couple more games than usual so this week’s previews will be quick hitters. Have a great Thanksgiving weekend and look for me in the stands of the Arkansas vs Missouri game tomorrow!
My Record: 4-2 last week, 47-25 overall (65%)
Notable Games
2Ohio State at 5Michigan
This is the biggest game of the weekend. Ohio State absolutely destroyed Michigan State last weekend and looked like a top team. Michigan also had a good week, but Maryland isn’t the same level of competition. While Michigan does have a strong defense, I do not think they will be able to hold Ohio State to less than 30 points. The Buckeyes have too many weapons on offense, and I think they will pull away in the fourth quarter.
I am picking Ohio State
10Oklahoma at 7Oklahoma State
Another huge game. This year’s Bedlam game should be a good one, but probably won’t be the high scoring affair we are used to. Oklahoma State’s defense is great and the Sooners have struggled with strong defenses this season. I think the Cowboys will get revenge for last year’s game and will keep their playoff hopes alive.
I am picking Oklahoma State
9Ole Miss at Mississippi State (Thursday)
One of the best games of Rivalry Week, the Egg Bowl rarely disappoints. These teams really don’ like each other and that makes the game fun to watch when you don’t have a rooting interest. Despite Ole Miss being a top 10 team and Mississippi State being unranked, I think this game will be close and lots of fun. Ole Miss’s ability to score quickly will probably be the reason they win this game.
I am picking Ole Miss
Oregon State at 11Oregon
This game has very big Pac12 North implications. If Oregon wins this game, they will get a rematch against Utah next week. Oregon State needs a win in this game and for Washington to upset Washington State in the Apple Cup in order to win the North. Both of these teams are very good, and this could be a great game. I will be interested to see how Oregon responds after they looked awful against the Utes last week.
I am picking Oregon
North Carolina at 20NC State (Friday)
NC State still has a chance to make the ACC Championship game. They will need a win in this game as well as a loss by Wake Forest to Boston College. Unfortunately for the Wolf Pack, that is probably unlikely. I think NC State will win this game, but it will be a close one. There is potential for a lot of points to be scored in this game.
I am picking NC State
Boise State at 21San Diego State (Friday)
I’m not sure why I am trying to pick a Mountain West game after my horrible record picking them this season, but this is a really big game. Boise State has not lost since losing a close one to Air Force way back in week 8. San Diego State struggled with UNLV last week and have just had too many close calls this season. I think the Broncos finish the season strong and get the win.
I am picking Boise State
Florida State at Florida (game for bowl eligibility)
This might be one of the more interesting games of the week. Florida fired their head coach, Dan Mullen, last week after losing in overtime to Missouri. The Gators haven’t played well in weeks. They almost look they are ready to be done with football this season. I think they will be a bit more motivated for this game because of the rivalry aspect, but Florida State has been rolling after starting the season with 5 losses. I think this is a close game, but I think the ‘Noles want it more.
I am picking Florida State
Missouri at 25Arkansas (Friday)
Getting to see the Hogs play in person last week against Alabama was awesome. They played loose and fun and it was strange being hopeful for a win against the Tide. There are still things that need to be fixed, but I could not be prouder of this team. They should win this game comfortably, but Mizzou has had their number for a long time. This will be my 5th Arkansas game of the season. I’m hoping to see KJ have another strong game. I also would like to see the secondary play significantly better than they did last week.
