2021 Week 6 Preview

A lot of things happened in week 5. Lots of ranked teams lost. Georgia and Alabama have solidified their spots as the only two teams I have confidence in this season. And having seen both Bama and Georgia play, I think Georgia is the best team in the country. They are on a whole different level. I’m glad Arkansas picked last week to play their (hopefully) worst game of the season. There was no chance they would win that game. I would like to thank Cincinnati for beating Notre Dame and I really hope the CFP committee will take them seriously. As we look towards this week of college football, there are more great ranked vs ranked games. The biggest one being 4Penn State at 3Iowa. Probably won’t be a fun one to watch, but it’s a huge game. But that’s not the only big game. Let’s take a look at the rest.

My Record: 2-4 last week, 17-13 overall

I just want to say that I had a great time in Athens despite the outcome of the game and the awful sunburnt I got on my arms. Sanford Stadium is the loudest stadium I have ever been in, and I was sitting at the very top of the stadium. I still think Arkansas would have lost if this were a home game, but I think the hogs would have found a way to put points up.
Also, I told y’all Wisconsin was bad.

Notable Games
2Georgia at 18Auburn
I don’t think this will be close. I know it is a rivalry game, but having seen Georgia in person, I don’t see many teams scoring points on them. They will probably still be without starting QB JT Daniels, but I don’t think it will matter. Georgia is my pick for best team in the country. Auburn had a very nice comeback win over LSU last week, but the Georgia defense won’t let Bo Nix scramble that long this week.

4Penn State at 3Iowa
This is a huge game in the Big 10. I’m not super confident in my pick of Iowa in this game, but they have been kicking butt on defense this season. Penn State is a very good team on both sides of the ball, but my gut is telling me to go with Iowa. I think this will be a close game but it won’t be very high scoring. I think the Iowa defense wins this game.

6Oklahoma vs 21Texas (Dallas)
This is another game I went back and forth on. I don’t think Oklahoma is as good as their ranking, but they have yet to lose. Finding ways to win close games and games where you don’t play your best is a mark of a good team. The OU defense has also been pretty good so far and that is confusing. Texas seems to have found their stride on offense which makes them a little more intimidating. The Longhorn defense is not super good and that is why I think they lose this game. It should be a fun one.

Boise State at 10BYU
BYU has very quietly worked their way into the top 10. The Cougars are coming off a nice win over Utah State and are 5-0 on the season. Boise State has been struggling a bit this season. They lost to Nevada last week by 10 and had no run game to speak of. I think BYU is the better team in this game, but I think it will be a little close because Boise State will need to show that they are still Boise State.

LSU at 16Kentucky
Kentucky is coming off a huge win over Florida last week. They took down the Gators at home for the first time since 1986. LSU blew a lead at home in their loss to Auburn last week. I think Kentucky is in a better place mentally for this game and I think the stadium will be packed in Lexington. I’m not sure LSU really has the drive this season for the bigger games. I think Kentucky wins this game in a weird way.

Stanford at 22Arizona State (Friday)
Stanford is having some kind of season. They knocked off third ranked Oregon on the road last weekend in overtime. Arizona State also got a big road conference win against UCLA last week in blowout fashion. I talked about how I wasn’t really sure who Arizona State was as a team, and they just keep making me question it. I think they are in a better spot this week and that Stanford will be a bit hungover from their win. This is a Friday night game, so we could get some crazy Pac12 After Dark things in this one.

13Arkansas at 17Ole Miss
Both of these teams come into this game licking their wounds from facing the top two teams in the country last week. This game might take 4+ hours because these are two of the most penalized teams in the country. I’m looking forward to seeing the Arkansas offense after they seemed to have decided last week was a bye. I think the Arkansas defense played very well against Georgia. WHAT? Katie, they lost 37-0, how is it even possible that you think that? Well, because I watched the game. The first 14 points happened seemingly before the defense took the field. Points 15-21 came on a blocked punt in the end zone, so not the defense’s fault. After that atrocious first quarter, the defense only gave up 16 more points, and Georgia had to earn them. Their OL beat up our defense and they wore out late. It is not their fault the offense had absolutely nothing going for it. The explosive and fun part of the defense didn’t even get a chance to show themselves because Georgia only threw the ball 11 times. This game will be so much different. It should be a fun and extremely stressful game for both fan bases. I haven’t seen anything about why we pulled KJ, but I’m hoping it was just to give Malik some experience in a game we didn’t have a chance to win. We have to test the Ole Miss secondary to win this game. I think it will be a battle. Rebel QB Matt Corrall probably wants to atone for his 6INTs in the game last season. I don’t know why this is another 11am CT game, but it is on ESPN. I hope everyone will be awake for this one.
